A cloudy day at the beach can still be beautiful. The sound of waves crashing to the shore. The cries of gulls scouring the beach in search of a treat. Beyond the jetties a pilot boat returns to port, silenced by the crashing waves.

The 24th Annual Georgetown Wooden Boat Show was the perfect event to pull the community together following the devastating September 25, 2013 waterfront fire. A record attendance provided a morale and economic boost to the business community and South Carolina Maritime Museum. Beautiful boats. Beautiful weather. Smiling faces. A good time had by all. And a most appreciative community.

The boat building contest always draws a crowd. Hoperfully, the winning boat will be on display at next year’s show.
Maine boatbuilders were represented by a beautifully restored mahogany, 1958 Bristol Fisherman, owned by Douglas Wright, of Charleston, SC.
Imagine. 14′ 6″ of wooden boat with a 6′ 2″ beam. Add a 90HP Mercury motor. And you get 60+ MPH. The “Spitfire,” designed and built by Matthew Gunning, of Gunning Wooden Boats, gives a new meaning to “adrenalin rush.”
And what boat show would be complete without TowBoatUS being represented.
